Architectural Accessibility

The headquarters of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis Office in Katowice is located at 21A Barbary Street, 40-053 Katowice. The coordinator for architectural, digital, and information-communication accessibility is Anna Proksa, email: a.proksa@metropoliagzm.pl, phone: +48 32 718 07 20. There are 3 entrances to the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis building - the first is the main entrance from Hercena Street, the second is a side entrance from Hercena Street, and the third is a rear entrance from Szmausa Street. Each entrance to the building has stairs. The steps of the entrance stairs are marked with contrasting stripes. Stairs throughout the building are equipped with handrails. People in wheelchairs can access the ground floor using stair platforms. The main entrance is designated for visitors. The glass doors of the main entrance are marked with contrasting tapes. Corridors and rooms throughout the building are accessible to wheelchair users. There is an elevator on the ground floor of the building that is adapted for use by people with disabilities. The elevator is equipped with voice announcements and has buttons marked with Braille. On the ground floor in the left and right wings of the building, there are toilets for people with disabilities. In the left wing of the building, there is also a room adapted for a mother with a child. Three parking spaces for people with disabilities have been designated in front of the building. Access to the building and all its rooms is allowed with an assistance dog and a guide dog. Rooms in the building are not marked with plaques featuring raised digits and Braille letters, and there are no contrasting signs or enlarged print for visually impaired people. There are no plans showing the layout of rooms provided with tactile maps. No auditory navigation systems for the blind are used in the building. There are arrows or illuminated signs indicating the direction of evacuation in the building.

Communication and Informational Accessibility

A person interested in dealing with matters at the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis Office in Katowice with the help of a Polish Sign Language interpreter is required to report this fact in writing at least 3 working days before the planned date of the matter (does not apply to emergency situations). The interpretation service is free of charge.
