PKP PLK is gradually carrying out renovations to the railway viaducts. The next phase of work will require the reopening of the underpass on Piłsudskiego Street in Sosnowiec (the area around the Women's Rights Roundabout), which will mean changes to tram and bus routes.
The viaduct will be closed from November 15th to December 13th. A number of changes will be introduced to public transport in the area. These will affect bus routes 91, 299, 723, 808, 813, and 835, as well as metropolitan lines M4 and M17. Tram routes will have their routes or timetables changed for routes 15, 21, 28, 34, and 36. Tram route 26 will be suspended. Tram route 45 will be reinstated, and the Z-45 replacement bus route will be extended to the Sosnowiec Piłsudskiego/Sobieskiego stop. On October 6th, the routes and timetables of eight tram lines will change.
The underpass under the railway viaduct over Żeromskiego Street in Sosnowiec will be closed. Public transport must be adapted to the next phase of PKP PLK investment work. Passengers on lines 21 and 27 will experience the greatest disruption. These trams will operate on shortened routes. The former will run between the Tworzeń Huta Katowice and Będzin Cmentarz Komunalny sections, while the latter will operate between the Kazimierz Górniczy Pętla and Sosnowiec Al. Zwycięstwa stops. This means that the Milowice Pętla – Pogoń Akademiki and the Zamkowe Zajezdnia – Sosnowiec Estakada sections will not be served by trams.
Replacement bus line Z-21 will be launched. Buses will serve the closed section, from the Będzin Cmentarz Komunalny stop to the Milowice Hala Sportowa stop.
Other Changes
The modifications will also affect six other tram lines – 0, 15, 24, 26, 34, and 36. Departure times will be adjusted, and routes for inbound and outbound services will be changed.
