Card payments are now available in all GZM Transport vehicles.

The Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis has installed ticket machines on buses and trams, allowing you to pay by card. The devices are now operational in all nearly 1,900 vehicles. Modern "mobile ticket machines" are additional ticket distribution points.

Vehicles equipped with mobile EMV devices enabling card payments are already in operation throughout the entire Transport GZM network. Purchasing a ticket from a mobile ticket machine using a payment card doesn't require an account in the system or any special app. The most popular ticket types – 20-, 40-, and 90-minute tickets, as well as the Day Ticket – can be purchased there, as well as the Start/Stop option.

"We are expanding the ticket distribution network with ticket machines that allow you to purchase tickets directly on board using a payment card," says Kazimierz Karolczak, Chairman of the GZM Management Board. "Until now, they were present in the Tychy subregion and on Metrolines. Now we have them in all vehicles. This solution is familiar from many European cities, convenient to use, and completely secure," adds Karolczak.

Purchasing a Single Ticket

To purchase a ticket, select the icon representing your chosen ticket on the main screen. In the next step, select the number of tickets and confirm with the "proceed to payment" button along with the indicated price. The purchase process is completed by tapping your card on the reader, which displays a purchase confirmation. You can also pay for your ticket using a Metrocard in the same way.

A ticket purchased this way is immediately validated. The ticket machine allows you to purchase multiple tickets, but these are not pre-purchased tickets. The device does not print confirmations during the transaction. When a payment card is used, the Transport GZM system creates a unique token for it. During ticket inspections, the ticket inspector simply holds the card used to make the transaction up to the ticket inspector and receives confirmation of payment. This process is completely secure and does not require logging in or providing any additional data.

To ensure your purchase was successful, simply press the "i" icon and tap your card on the ticket machine. Importantly, the transaction is not immediately reflected in your bank accounts. Your account will be charged for the ticket purchase the next business day.

Start/Stop Journey

You can pay for your Start/Stop fare with a payment card by tapping your card upon entering or exiting the vehicle without pressing any buttons on the screen. Based on the scheduled journey time, the system will calculate the fare at the end of the day, which will be charged to your card's bank account on the next business day. As with Metrokarta or Metroapp, the fare will not exceed the value of the Day Ticket.

Ease of Use

Every vehicle is equipped with at least one mobile ticket machine. For example, on "short" buses, the devices are usually located at the second door, and on "long" buses, at the second and third doors. The same applies to trams. Ticket payment can also be made using a phone or watch with a card attached. To make using the ticket machines easier for foreigners, the menu is also available in English, German, and Ukrainian.

Mobile ticket machines are modern ticket sales points. Currently, passengers on the Transport GZM network, which covers over 55 cities and municipalities, can also purchase tickets using the Transport GZM app, other apps, ticket machines located at bus stops, kiosks, and Passenger Service Points.
