GZM has tested its new electric buses. The Spanish vehicles will be delivered to four operators.

Representatives of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis (GZM) have conducted preliminary technical inspections of new electric buses. Eight vehicles will go to Sosnowiec, seven to Gliwice, nine to Katowice, and seven to Świerklaniec. This will be the debut of the Spanish Irizar electric buses at GZM.
The inspection of new vehicles is an important step preceding the delivery of the buses and their introduction into daily passenger service. Employees of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis (GZM) have tested the electric buses for both technical and visual identification. The vehicles will be delivered to GZM in the second quarter of 2026.

The Spanish brand debuts
"We are introducing a new quality in public transport. These are modern, comfortable, and environmentally friendly buses that meet the growing expectations of passengers. The debut of Irizar is not only a new brand in our fleet, but also a signal that GZM is now firmly established on the European electromobility map." The metropolis, with its clearly defined fleet transformation strategy and scale of operations, attracts market leaders ready to implement innovations here," emphasizes Igor Śmietański, Vice-Chairman of the Management Board of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis.
Irizar buses are designed with passenger comfort in mind. The vehicles feature large windows that provide improved visibility and interior lighting. They are also equipped with, among other things, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and USB ports for charging mobile devices.
The vehicles are also equipped with modern safety systems that support the driver and increase the safety of passengers and other road users. Thanks to the electric drive, the buses will be quiet and emission-free, positively impacting air quality and the quality of life of the residents of the Upper Silesian Metropolis.
Irizar e-mobility is part of the renowned Spanish Irizar Group, operating for over 130 years and today one of the largest manufacturers of public transport vehicles in Europe. The company not only builds buses but also creates complete, integrated electromobility ecosystems, designs proprietary batteries, energy storage systems, chargers, and fleet management platforms. These solutions are already in operation in cities such as Barcelona, London, Amsterdam, Luxembourg, and Frankfurt, and soon also in the GZM region.
